Ah.....the ever so popular "vette" heads...hmmm.

I've seen many engines called "vette" engines (and demanding a higher price) because they have corvette valve covers on them.....beware.

Please find out casting numbers. You can find out what they are at www.mortec.com or post the numbers here.

Sorry if I came across as an *** ..
Been there, done that.

What year vette? Alot of the mid years are nothing but regular SBC heads. Nothing special about them.

dont buy 'em. Mid 70's are sht! Go with something tried and trued. Don't get taken in by the "VETTE". These years were the slowest vette's (beside I-6's').

The heads off the late 60's and early 70's were good. They were the doublehumps. They came with 62-64cc combustion chambers and drag racers loved them. The most sought after were like the 461X and the 186's.They had from 1.94 valves up to 2.02's.If they are doublehumps, for $250, they should at least be assembled.

Good luck!

Early seventies could be a good set, depends on the casting #s.

Aftermarket heads are getting really cheap nowadays so it really depends on what power you want or will want in the future.

Head technology has come a long way since the seventies.

Can you get a casting number off one??

What this guy meant is "They came off a 'vette ..." same as all other SBC stuff "... and have 2.02" diameter intake valves" 2.02" int/ 1.60" exh The 202 is not a casting number, he probably just uses "key phrases" to sound like he knows about cylinder heads. Get the numbers and match them to Mortec (as posted) or MadMike's page (which I prefer ). If you need to build a cheap engine quick, then go for it, but if you want a performance engine go with aftermarkets or (better yet if your thifty) Vortecs.
