Not Good... Water pooling from rear of engine....

Just recently when I park my car after a drive, water pools under the car, it seems to be coming out of the cover between the engine and tranny.... Only sometimes does this happen, anybody had similar issues? Could it be the freeze plugs? The water seems to be fairly cool, not 200*, so I'm stumped, but it is definatley leaking coolant like crazy...

Thanks

BTW its not the AC Condensation

if its actually leaking from the back of the engine i would havta say a leaky freeze plug or a crack in the block but it could always be runnin down from somewhere else too....

might want to check rear intake manifold gasket. it may be leaking from there.

Well, why not try some stop leak. You have nothing to loose.

Comes out mostly on real hot days? When you're trying to stay cool yourself?

Air conditioner condensate from the evaporator housing.....

yeah on hot days you will notice water dripping from your engine bay. Its usually the water that condensed on the a/c lines.

I had a riviera that would drip water from the frame pretty regularly, i never figured out exactly what cause it. But it was certainly just water, not coolant or oil.

I don't know if you have an LG4 but I have worked on a few that had a leak on the passenger side rear of the intake manifold that allowed coolant to run down the back of the block.

The area corroded (from the inside) where the head water passage meets the intake manifold there.

I even tore down one that had corroded within 1/32 of an inch of allowing coolant into the lifter galley!!! That could have been interesting.

After one of the more recent tear-downs, I was unable to find a suitable factory aluminum intake that was not already corroded so I installed a Edelbrock intake. Not for the performance mind you

Alright thanks guys, I'm going to check some of this stuff out tomorrow and hopefully make some progress, hopefully not a cracked block (fingers crossed), but the water is cool to the touch...

I don't think that its the A/C because that drips elsewhere, but possibly since it;s cool
