Try posting this on the "Motor Swap" board. Those guys over there know a lot of stuff. Some one might know what you need or know where to find it.

well if its carbed then you have to get the motor the TPI system and the wireing harness and the computer. then you have to drop the gas tank and swap out the pump the trans will bolt rigth up so no worries there. you goign to have to set up the VSS system a little bit different and you will most likely run into carp you didn't plan for till its to late.

You really need to get some facts straight before you go giving advice.

He said C5, which is like a LS1 or something. Be hard to find a 4 bbl intake for it.

you right i'm thinking the 350TPI (that would bolt right in) as for the LS1 you have to have fun with the motor mounts.

Man, you are WAY off there. heh.

L98=c4's from what, about 84-90
LT1=c4's from 90ish-97, I believe?
LS1=c5's

You'd be better off getting a "SuperSport Engine" or a "Trans Am Engine" from the ls1-based fbodies. The fact that whoever's selling it is calling it a Corvette engine most likely means they'll ask for more money just for the name of it. There are very few differences in the motors, however.. One important difference is that the 'vette LS1's used an electronic throttle linkage, or a "fly-by-wire" type of setup. No actual linkage, just electric motors. The f-body LS1's still used cable linkage.

That aside, all sorts of things have to be changed to fit the ls1 into a third-gen fbody. Engine of course, tranny from an ls1 car, driveshaft (as I believe the ls1 and lt1 trannies are different in length), frame needs to be modified, custom motor mounts, all the computer/wiring stuff, and so on. If you've got the money, knowledge and tools, I'd say go for it.

Oh yeah, the second part was meant for the person asking about the swap.

2-3 grand, probably. Talk to the guys at third gen resource (link at the top of the page), they did the swap, they'd probably answer any questions you'd have.

http://www.thirdgenresource.com has the LS1 swap into a thirdgen.. it's also a good parts source..

anyway, L98's were in vettes until 91, 92 started with LT1's and went until 96, and 97 was the LS1...

BUT ... you're MUCH better off using F-body parts for the reasons already stated, and because they fit better into our cars.. driveshaft is the same length, transmission fits perfectly, just need a new crossmember, engine needs custom motor mounts, new fuel pump, computer .. it's quite a pain in the ***... it'd be easier to just get something normal since LS1's are completely different engines... get a normal 350 block with nice heads and all that so that you can keep the same intake you have, and have no need to change the fuel pump, until more fuel is needed to power the engine.

I hope that all came out right... hehe

--edit--

oh.. the engine mounts aren't different between vettes and f body's as far as the LS1 goes.. but the transmission is quite different.. that's the main part where you would want to go with an f-body part instead... the driveshafts between the f-body and vette are different, but ALL f-bodies from 82-02 have the same length driveshaft.. umm... I think that's all I need to say...

Yes you do, the engine doesn't mount up in the same place.
