Can anyone ID this oil pan??
Can anyone ID this oil pan??
Not sure this is real technical, but since you guys are the tech gurus I figured if anyone would have seen this oil pan y'all would have. I have a pic (at the link below) of a pan that was on a (IIRC) Buick engine - but they didn't say in the article where it came from or who made it. If anyone can ID it I'd really appreciate it...

It's a Poston... not only is it a pan, it's also a stud girdle. You're right, that is in fact a Buick motor, probably a 400, 430, or 455.
Check the various Buick forums and places like Kenny Bell.

Steve,
If you are looking for something similar for an SBC V-8, try fitting a cast alunimum oil pan from ARE Racing Engine Systems. A road race wet sump for SBC engiens is less than $500.00. It is similar in design to the later Vortec V-6 truck engine pan. It has a strikingly similar design with some heat fins. Cast into the pan are lateral braces that contribute to strength in the lower part of the case.
If that doesn't strike you, Miloden and Canton offer some aluminum pans for a bit less cash with a bit less strength.
