3rd gen gauges stink!

Recently swapped the gauge cluster from my Z parts car over to my Iron Duke car. Since the speedo never worked in the Z, never knew it bounced pretty bad. The temp. gauge sticks, with a nice thump, it releases. And finally, today fuel gauge started to act up. It wonders from 1/3 tank to 1/2 tank with the car running but parked. I guess this is typical for 20 year old stuff. Guess I'll invest in a set of aftermarket gauges. What brand does everyone recommend?

Thank,
Brandon

hey i'll agree they blow big time i have a 84 TA and i hate them. the volt-meter tells me i always have about 20 volts the gas gauge lies and they speddo still jerks in increments of 10 miles an hour even after a cable lube. the oil pressure gauge is straight up and down the wrong way and has never moved. need i go on about what you already know. I would say take a look at JEGS i personally like their new autometer gauges i've never owned one but they have been around for quite awhile so i would imagine they aern;t to shappy.

i just purchased a set of cheap mechanical gauges to get me by until i'm ready to invest in a top quality set of gauges. i'll probably go with autometer mechanical gauges.

If my Camaro ever reached the age of 100....I still expect the original gauges to work!

lol...I guess I should be more critical...original gauges in my '57 and '59 still work.

Then again, they probably wern't imported at the time

I just opened up the stock holes in my 82 and dropped in some Auto Meter Phantoms. They look and work awsome. With the way I did it they almost look factory..I also mouted 2 gauges in the center of the dash just underneath the vents..
