Hot Cam springs?
What would be a good valve spring for the LT4 Hot cam .525 lift, other than the LT4 valve springs because im not gonna be using the lighter valves.
thanks

GM valves are not light. Comp cams makes a good spring. I would stay with the GM spring. The know what works with thier product. They have the money to through at thing to make them right. If an LT1 can turn 6500 rpm with the same spring then I think you will be o.k. The ramps for the lobes are not that aggressive. You don't need real high spring pressures. If I'm not wrong,m the comp cams part # is 987

I thought that the LT4 valves were filled with sodium, i dont know how much lighter they were. but do you think ill be ok with the lt4 springs?

Only the exhaust valves on LT4s are sodium filled, and they're still about 90g. What may be more disappointing is that they are only 2.00/1.55" valves. They could have at least goen with 2.10/1.55 or 2.05/1.60 valves. Every backyard mechanic uses 2.02/1.60 valves, and this is the biggest coproration in the world. You'd think they'd at least have some resources to get decent valves in the heads.
And not to argue too much, but if GM knows what works best with their engines, they certainly aren't proving it. If they did, we wouldn't be getting crappy springs from them to start with. I can understant their desire to use weak springs on older, flat tappet engines just to promote durability, but a roller cammed engnie still has weak springs. I don't get it.
These are the same accountants that provided us with pull-out rocker studs, castings that almost match the gaskets, timing sprockets that had nylon teeth, stamped rocker arms, valve seals that don't, etcetera.
