ok i have a 85 Z28 305 4bbl and it doesnt have an ECM or O2 sensor, is there anyone else on here who doesnt have computer controls on their car? The only emissions stuff that came on it were the EVAP and PCV and cat. I guess im just wondering if this is normal?

 

i can only speak from experience, i've messed with my car, and two friends cars (84-85-86) and bought a totalled TPI car, all of them had ecms under the dash

my guess is that someone removed the comp controlled stuff before you got the car

 

so its highly unlikely that GM built some without computer controls? Oh well i prefer it the way it is, less to worry about.

 

i don't know anybody around here that runs their carbed thirdgens with the computer controlled distributor or carb they came with

 

I assume your car is a Canadian version? That might have something to do with it.

ya i read that in my book that not all cars came with thje same emmisions controls so it could be that its Canadian

 

I run it...Do I like running it? No....But I can't afford a Holley and a MSD HEI Distrib so I'm basically royally screwed atm...

 

I have an Edelbrock intake/carb and HEI distrib. But....can't run 'em in Texas. So, I'm screwed into buying legal parts.

That's exactly it. The LG4's, carbed 2.8's and likely the carbed L4's sold in Canada were without computer controls. Nice when it's time for modding them...no ECM to throw a fit
