90 Lumina 3.1L help. Little stumble
just started recently from a take off it stumbles a tad and take off and when the car hits 3rdgear and the converter locks up at about 35mph. i give a tad of gas and the car will jump back and forth while the converter is still locked. Any suggs? Fluid is kinda browish. I just changed it at about 120K it now has about 145 K

A stuble is hard to diagnoise over the internet. Usually if its the TCC switch like your kinda trying to get at "I think" it will hit really hard and can feel like the transaxle fell out. It could be signs of the switch starting to fail.

NONO not that bad. I can feel the motor move back and forth like something is shaking it thump thump thump and as I get into it a little more while its locked up it gets harder and harder. but above 40 and up feels fine.

Your TCC is engaging too early. It needs to engage over 40. 35 is too early. Does it start doing this AFTER you feel the converter engage? If you accelerate too hard and the converter stays engaged, it will give you car a sort of shake...more like shuddering. Like getting up to 20 mph, putting the car in 4th, and nailing the gas.
If you're getting stumbling/misfiring, check the ignition system. Also, check sensors, like the O2.

35 MPH is where I felt every TC lock on every gm Ive driven under light cruise. Are you sure this is a mechanical issue? Those 2.8/3.1 FWD's are very notorious for breaking the PSR (engine to fender well) engine mount, the $80-120 one of course.

My motor doesnt have that mount. I have the 2 dogbones to the front and a huge hydrolic filled mount under the balancer.

Any time mine engaged below 40 it would cause me problems...
What are your rpms in gear when this is happening? Maybe the car is getting into 4th gear AND locking the TCC at 35. If so...I imagine your rpms would be way low and cause the car to chug until it picked up a decent enough speed.

I have the exact same problem in my 89 2.8 Beretta. I've replaced plugs, wires, O2, trans fluid/filter, EGR, 2 coils, fuel filter, 2 bad injectors, buttloads of gaskets, and even cleaned the TB. The problem remains. I've come to the conclusion that it's not engine related.
