Old gas, what do I do?
I recently obtained an 86 IROC that sat for 2 years and the gas tank is half full. Should I drain it? If so, I'm curious why. And if/when I drain it what can I do with that much old gas? I don't want to dispose of it improperly.
Thanks

Drain it, it has probably lost most of its potentcy, as in it has turned to a less volitle liquid. Also there is probably a good amount of water in it from condensation from sitting stagnant for so long.
Just drain it, put it in a 5 gallon metal bucket (55 gal drum would be better) and light it (don't blow yourself up).

Drain it, if it's got a carb, you'll probably want to take the top off and take a peek as well...
Also run some fuel/carb/FI cleaner through a couple of tanks full of gas to make sure everything stays clean.
As for disposing, I'd filter it, add some octane booster and use it in my lawn mower. If that's not an option look up hazerdous waste sites in your local phone book.
