Read defogger blues
Sorry Guys if Ive posted this in the wrong area... My rear defogger has 1 string that dosent work, and thats no big deal, but my problem is that it (the rear defogger unit) shuts itself off after like 2 minutes and usually thats just not enough time to defog the rear window, then I have to wait a couple of minutes and try it again, each time it clears up more and more of the window, but again if I dont wait it stays on for like 30 seconds and shuts off...Its like it gets hot and needs to cool down, but not hot enough to clear the window... Make any sense??? No it dosent ever blow the fuse, could it just be the switch on the dash thats getting ready to check out??? I appreciate all suggetions, and thanks

Hmmm....I suggest you get a manual to verify my suggestion. The defogger is supposed to work for 15 minutes the first time it is engaged, then 5 minutes every time after (I think)....check for either a bad timer device or some type of fusible link (for lack of better word selection).
As for the broken strip, just get a repair kit from an auto store for about $2. I fixed mine in 2 minutes. However, if your rear hatch is tinted then you have to remove the tint first. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I bet it is the switch in the dash. I think the timer control is in there. The bad news is there about $35 from the dealership, I think that's the only place you can find them new. If I were you, I'd hold out till I could get one from a car being parted. That's what I did when my switch went bad.
