gas smell

gas smell
My '83Z has a gas smell that is strongest right at the area of the driver door, outside the car. This is new, since I haven't noticed it before. The odor seems to be mainly in that area only and I can't find any leaks!
There were some posts about this about a year or so ago, but I've forgotten the answers. Can anybody help?

Sounds like you need a float adjustment. Me too. But my smell comes after coming to a stop really quickly.

Either Ed is correct about the saturated evap canister, or you were parked next to a Taco Bell...
