Do I need to rebuild my motor?

I have an 88 GTA with the 350 TPI motor. It has 111,000 miles on it at the moment. It runs strong, fires up every time, never dies or anything. But lately, I've notices a cloud of bluish smoke when I start it up. Also, it is burning about 3 quarts of oil every 1,000 miles! Today I noticed what looked to be very fine metal shavings on the end of the dipstick. I've thought about rebuilding the motor stock just to freshen it up. I don't want to do anything fancy to it. Any advice is appreciated! Matt

Yeah, those are some signs that something is wrong in there. You may have broken some piston rings, and the oil is blowing by and burning (the bluish smoke). Take the opportunity to do your bottom end right.
