blinker won't blink

My driver side blinker doesn't blink. It just turns on, no flashing. The passenger side works just fine.

One of the lamps on the left side of the car has probably failed. Check them all, including the side markers.

Check the Blinker Fluid level.

For me, it was a burnt bulb. Obviously, the light itself wasnt stuck on, but the dash indicator was. If this is what you're talking about, it's probably a burnt bulb.

I'm not sure if this is the same on a 3rd gen camaro, but back home my bosses 69 Gt 350 had a blinker problem, and there was a device called a "flasher" that he plugged in somewhere under the dash (like above the pedel area) and that made the blinkers work again.

I'm not sure if camaro's use flashers, but maybe it's stuck "on" ? I'm not sure how these work (or if our cars even have them), but it sounds like a possibility. Anyone know about this?

It's a burnt out bulb. I had the same thing happen to me this year.

Just went through this with my IROC. Turn the key to the ON position and hit the left turn signal. Get out and check to see if all the lights are on. If one isn't, try changing out that bulb. If the flasher was bad, neither side should work. The flasher is a pain to get to compared to the lights so check the lights first anyway. If you have a tilt steering wheel try moving it up/down while the left turn signal is on. My problem ended up being the wiring in the steering column. In the full up position my passenger side turn signal works fine. Move the steering wheel down even one notch and no more right turn signal. I'll "tear" into it later if it stops working in the full up position. good luck.

Here's just a suggestion. I picked up an electronic blinker module (has a coil, cap, resistor) and it is MUCH quieter than the old thermal blinker design. It also blinks much faster as well. Just one thing, it doesn't give you the "bulb burnout" feature that the thermal ones have. I don't care, I still like it better!

Check the flasher unit under the driver's side by steering column. Easy to get to, at least on a 1991 Camaro. I had one turn signal out, not two and the flasher unit was the culprit.

Re: blinker won't blink

So I know this thread is old enough to drink in Canada, but I had this same issue after taking off the taillights to polish them and change all the bulbs. But after I replaced the bulbs all of a sudden, my passenger side rear blinker doesn't blink. Both the front and rear blinker would light up, but neither blinked anymore. Even though the rear blinked perfectly fine with the old bulb. I searched the forum and found this thread. All the blinker fluid guys were hilarious and that was just what I was looking for at my peak frustration and hours of trying to figure out what the problem was. Hilarious. But I digress. There are three types of bulbs in the taillight. A two pronger, a one pronger and then a little one. My mistake was replacing a one pronger with a two pronger. Although, I am 95ish% sure that I took a two pronger out of it- when I put a new two pronger back in, it refused to blink. Just out of a pure last ditch effort, I decided to try it with a one pronger instead to see what would happen (even though the blinker on the driver's side is a two pronger as well) and it worked! It went back to blinking. So that's my suggestion for anyone else who has this problem. Try the other bulb and see what happens.

The fact that you were able to fit the wrong bulb in the socket is a sure sign that your socked is effed.... Look at the locating pin configurations of the two bulbs in this photo, the 1156 has it's pins directly aligned across from each other whereas the 1157 has it's pins offset (to insure the dual filament 1157 bulb can only be inserted one way, the way that lets each filament connect to it's proper circuit) . In short, you are NOT supposed to be able to install the wrong bulb in a socket that's in good condition.......
