Welcome to the boards.
If you use the search feature, or look in the "power adder" section, you can find plenty of things to do to your engine to make it peppier. First off, is the engine in tune and working properly? A good tuneup may be what you need to bring back some lift to the car. A 302? Are you sure it's a 302 and not a 305? Either way, it's not the fastest known V8 out there, but there is plenty you can do to make it faster, I think the first way to go would be to get a better intake and carburetor setup for that car. That alone should give you a noticeable difference. Rear end gears are also a common thing to change out for some better acceleration. Just a couple things there, but there's lots more you can do. Hope that gives you some insight.

you must have gotten some magical one with a 302. i assume they built it just for you. as for the power, it's slow because that's just how 82 camaro's are stock. as for making it faster, i'm going to go out on a limb and say change some parts. just my opinion, i could be..... nah.

I've never had experience with a 82...but I had a 305 88 model. Yes 305s are slow stock. Very slow. Sad actually.
New cam/intake/carb/and exhaust would wake it up a lot. New heads for a power adder would also help tremendously.

Is it difficult too change the cam. and that cab. ? and are there any place on the net were i could find some drawings of it ??
Another thing i was wondering about .
that is:
What is the cable plug under the stearing wheel for ??
it looks like a scart plug just like the one on a tv.

Biggest gains as is will come from the exhaust. You need to see what you got right now. A car that old probably does not have the stock catalytic converter on it. And if it does it may be time to replace it with one of the new high flow ones. And it may have a really tiny pipes and manifolds. If you have a Q-jet carb then that's the last thing I would worry about changing. Depending on miles, a cam swap would be good. If you are burning oil now, then might as well do the cam along with a rebuild. But Exhaust and cam should noticeably increase your power.

The plug underneath the steering wheel is the Diagnostic Connector. It can be used to get trouble codes from the computer if you have a 'Check Engine' light on.
First, make sure you do a GOOD tune up and make sure the timing is set properly.
I wouldn't recommend getting a new carburetor because the Quadrajet you have on their will support more power than you will probably ever make with that engine. However, you might want to look into having it rebuilt.
As far as making it faster, I would suggest first taking care of the entire exhaust. Find headers that are not specific to the LG4 engine (it will have smaller diameter pipes) and get a new catalytic converter (the stock one is very restrictive, is huge and weighs a TON) and exhaust system.
After that, I would look into gears. My 82 came with 3.23 gears and a Limited-Slip (posi) differential but you might not be so lucky. Find out what you have - You have to pull your differential cover and get the ratio off of the ring gear. 3.42's or 3.73's would probably work best.
After that if you still decide to stick with the 305 (could go to a 350 and see better results...) I would think about some World Products S/R 305 heads and a cam. I'm looking into the COMP Xtreme Energy 256 or 262.

82 LG4 305's had 145hp and 240tq stock. Thats not much at all these days, condsidering regular econo cars have more then that. But back then 145hp was quite a bit. Infact the 82 is faster then any 80-81 Camaro with a 350.
I had a 78 Camaro with the same motor thats in my 91 now. I'm pretty sure I would kill me friend in his 86 305 5 speed T/A with I still had that car. Just because some magizine or book says it was faster doesn't mean it was. With that same 350 with just a different card intake and headers i would beat me friend bye about 2 or 3 car lengths in a race, and the 78 wasn't that much slower.

WOW
thanx a lot guys
there is a catalyst on the car right now but the law in denmark says that i dont have too use that on the car
so i would be better for me too remove it and then give the car some new headers and exhaust . wouldnt it ??
iam not sure about the Carb. and what kind of type it is so il first try too leave it alone and then se what happens when removing the other parts.
i have too stick too my budget couse spare parts in denmark too that car a pretty expensive ;-)
How do i see witch Carb. i have ?

Get a high-flow cat and do the whole exhaust system first.
After that, I would throw away the air cleaner you have, since its a very restrictive single snorkel one. Get an air cleaner from a Camaro or Firebird that had the 305 HO engine, that has two very big snorkels on it.
Or you could get an open air cleaner that just has a lid, base and filter with no snorkels.
Anyway, a new air cleaner will help you out alot, but not as much as the exhaust will.
