Spark Problem???

After driving my car for a few minutes, just when it gets to operating temperature, it dies like someone put out the fire, and will backfire throught the exhaust badly. Once it cooled down, I could drive it fine. I was thinking that it must have gotten out of time somehow, wrong answer, it is just right. It has gradually gotten worse, to the point where it will not start at all, and just gives me a little blurble every once in while. I pulled one of the plug wires off today, while my buddy cranked it over, the spark seem somewhat weak and did not fire every time. Some one told me the magnetic pick-up probably went(4pin HEI). I guess it really almost has to be that, since everything else is new. From the Dist cap to the MSD box. Any help would be great, I have stuck to much time and effort into this car for it to sit. TIA

Yeah, sounds like the module. But get it tested at a parts store before you buy a new one because a decent module costs around 50 bux.

Make sure you have correct voltage going to the coil. I am not exactly sure, but you should have at least 4amps behind the 12-14 volts.

The module is replaced with the MSD box on a 4 pin HEI setup. Any other Ideas?

What condition are your spark plug wires in? I have had a similar problem and it turned out that the wires needed to be replaced.

Take the MSD box back off and see if that solves the problem. Even if it doesn't, you'll have one less component to suspect.
