The ports are up higher, nearer the valve cover flange. Some of the older Bowtie heads and the Vortecs and Fast Burns are made that way. It allows the intake charge to follow a straighter path into the clinder, less of a turn at the throat right before the valve.

What are they called in Jegs? how do I know I'm buying a raised port manifold? Are they the center bolt valve cover ones? Or are the vortecs the only ones that will fit?

Why do you think you need raised ports? Do you have aftermarket cyliner heads with raised ports? If you have raised port heads, then you need a "raised port intake manifold".

Center bolt is totally different, it refers to the valve covers and not the intake ports.

I want to buy the GM "fast burn" heads. GM says they accept either vortec or raised style intake manifolds. My question is: where would I find a place that sells these intakes? I have never seen a place selling them.

I know center bolt is the valve covers, BUT center bolt valve cover heads require a different intake than the standard ones.

What kind of intake (ie: carb'ed or TPI)? For carb'ed look at Jegs, Summit, PAW, etc ... Edelbrock makes "raised port" intake manifolds, so does Weiand/Holley, TFS, etc ...

No, they do not. Canted intake bolt heads do, which are '87 later cast iron heads (B2L/LB9/LO3). The Corvette aluminum heads (true L98) are center bolt, yet require standard intake bolt pattern.

Hope your purpose here is to help not contradict sir, you know what I meant. This is an F-body board not a corvette board, therefore I would be talking about the cast iron ones. END OF STORY.

Raised port heads do not necessarily require center bolt valve covers. AFR 195's, a couple Darts, Canfeilds, a couple Brodix heads, etc... come to mind.... Be carefull not to confuse raised port heads in general to what you need. You need a post 96' "vortec" gen I style intake for those heads. The manifold will mate with the raised port location and have the same bolt pattern, which is different with the vortecs and fast burns.

Edelbrock makes a Performer, Performer RPM, Vic JR and Super Vic that will bolt right up. Just look at their web sight, I'm sure they have the part numbers listed. Just look for a post 96' "vortec head" manifold. And make sure it's a GEN I and not LT1 or LT4 because they have a different coolant flow path.

Listen "buddy", all that I said is based on what you were asking. No contradiction what so ever! I am here only to help other F-body enthusiast like myself and not as a flamer (like some people). I don't know what you meant, I know what you typed. Based on that I responded, next time be more specific. I know this is an F-body site, but people do use the L98 heads on their F-bodies (both 305 and 350). Also, fact is there are some center bolt heads that do have the standard intake bolt pattern, and not the canted bolt pattern. Don't take post personal, people are trying to help others and sometimes we don't know the level of expertise we are dealing with. I at least try to cover all the bases so there is not a misunderstanding on the side of the post'er. Now, end of story!
