can i make more than 375hp with maf setup?
can i make more than 375hp with maf setup?
i had someone tell me they read you could only get 375 hp with a maf car this is worrying me cause i jus got my new afr 195cc heads and im hoping for more than 375hp please tell me the maf will flow enough to support more power i also heard something the the maf cant read high enough to support more hp any info id GREATLY APPERCATED thanks

sure you can make more than 375hp with maf, no reason you couldn't make 376 with maf. actually lot of people convert to SD to eliminate the restriction of maf. however i'm sure there are a lot of people making some big HP numbers with it. n20 or SC would be one way to help make more hp.

GM manages to get over 510 HP out of the Ramjet 502 crate engine, with a 48mm TB. The total free opening on the TB are smaller than the total opening on a stock Bosch MAF sensor. So either I'm missing something here, or GM has found a way to make gobs of power with that much air flow. Makes you wonder why everyone is so quick to hack up their MAFs, doesn't it? Even the LT1s and LT4s make better power at the crank with a small 48mm TB opening.
NASCAR 358 CID engines make 750HP with 2.405 sq. in. of throttle opening (four bores of 7/8" diameter). That's less than half of the 48mm bores on our stock TBs (5.05 sq. in.), so where's the restriction in HP?

i agree with you vader but when the sensor tops out and cant read anymore are you still good to go? i think the maf tops out at 255g anymore toughts? lets get technical lol thanks

Yes, the MAF system does max out at 255 gm/sec. You basically have to manually alter the PROM to compensate (or risk running lean). Or convert to SD, which is designed around calculating the air flow via the MAP, MAT and various tables.
If you read enough of the responses to this very question on the PROM Board, you quickly see that the usual response is almost always comes down to converting the 730 ecm (90-92 SD ecm).
