anyone bought china wall rubber gaskets lately??

my intake is leaking again at the back of the block so for once i wanna try installing those dreaded rubber gaskets. the guy who put my old heads on used 'em and after more than a year they were still sealing. but problem is i can't find 'em anywhere. so far i've tried dealer, napa, auto zone and advance with no luck.

TIA

Throw those suckers away and use a nice bead of RTV

They come in an intake manifold gasket set. If you read the directions they will say "We reccomend using RTV in place of the rubber end seals". Ive never had RTV leak but everyone and thier mother has had the rubber end seals leak.

i've always had RTV leak in that very same spot and i'm getting tired of having to pull the intake every time. my old rubber gaskets were on there a while without leaks. i even used that "right stuff" which is supposidly some of the best stuff.

anyone know where i can get 'em?

the only time i see the felpro ones is with a kit... either with the intake manifold gaskets, or with a cam kit or a rebuild kit..... basicly any fel pro kit where they expect you to pull the manifold.

and yea, im with everyone else and using some form of gasket maker..

i prefer the permatex stuff over everything though....

RTV is the only way to go. If the rubber ones have worked for you, consider yourself one in a million.

what I found out that works really good is to cut a V shape in the end of the tip on the RTV tube. It makes the silicone stand up really tall so you wont have to gob so much on there to reach a desirable height. I got that trick watching a guy put in a windsheild. Thats how he applied the urethane.

Lets see Ive got two intake manifold gasket boxes in the garage both have end seals and the water restrictors in them on felpro (junk) and one engine seal both were $8 from Azone.

If you have used RTV and had a leak you did it wrong or moved the manifold too much durring install. I use black or grey RTV, grey is better. Give a nice thick bead 1/4in thick across the engine then up the head with a light bead about an inch up. Ive never had a leak and Ive changed ALOT OF MANIFOLDS.

I ordered them through Autozone actually. Fel-Pro makes them...They were the recommended gasket with an Weiand intake I had years ago. Nicer than the stock ones, and they have the newer type "O-ring" type seals around all the ports, along with rubber china wall gaskets instead of the cheap cork ones. Fits 283's to 400's. It's thier "high performance" ones.

I can see if I can dig up the part number if you're interested, unless someone else here knows what I'm talking about......it's 1 AM and I'm not prancing around the garage right now...ever see a fat guy "prance"....not a pretty sight.....:nono:

Sorry....... went out and looked around but couldn't find the sheet in my Weiand intake box.

It's the one they recommend with the Action Plus intake. I remember ordering it from Autozone, and it said Fel-Pro High Performance on the side of the carton they came in. The china wall gaskets kinda have a rail on them so they fit snug on the block - they don't squeeze out when you tighten down the intake.
