That is suppose give the car a little gas or kick it up upon decell? If so where is it? And if not are there any that kick up the idle for anyreason? if so where Thanks alot 86 Lg4

The A/C compensator jsut raises the idle a few hundred to compensate for the load of the A/C compressor. It's basically an on/off type of solenoid.
There were some QJet applications that used a more sophisticated idle speed solenoid that could actually set idle RPM according to what the ECM called for, but I don't beleive the Camaro (or any Chevy) ever employed this type of system.

BZ,
Since you have a manual transmission, you need to install a dashpot on the throttle linkage belcrank to allow the throttle to come to rest in the idle position a little more slowly. These can be had at a good auto parts house for about ten bucks.

Ed,
You can stop rolling on the floor now...since I AM old enough to have used a few of those.

The relay I am talking about is on the firewall next to the map sensor, the one you guys are talking about is on the carb correct? Is that one adjustable? thanks

Relays are not adjustable. They either turn on or off. In case you haven't noticed we're all having some serious fun here... I would drop this if I were you and figure out your carb problem (if it makes you think it shouldn't do whatever you think it does wrong).

Unfortunately vader, i just can't stop laughing. You see, i know exactly what problem he is trying to fix and a dashpot isn't the answer. You sound like you are describing an anti stall dashpot, which lets the throttle close a little more slowly if you get out of it real fast, something which really makes carbs mad. He's trying to find a fix for afterfire when he's engine braking.
Alas, my best idea, using the relay themes presented here would be to use an rpm switch and some type of TPS trigger so that under certain high rpm/closed throttle conditions you hit the AC compensator solenoid to crack the throttle a little more. Of course i highly don't advocate trying this, more throttle when you are trying to slow down just doesn't seem like a good idea. Then again, making a convenient way to trigger off a closed throttle TPS is a chore enough in itself, unless you really cheat and use a microswitch (like for nitrous.)
Anyhow, i'm gonna fall off my chair again...good luck...ed
