single vs. dual plane intake manifold

what are the draw backs of using a single plane intake manifold on the street. i drive my car on the street every once and a while. its not a daily driver. should i go with the Victor Jr intake or the performer rpm airgap. i have AFR 195cc heads on the way and a much bigger cam too. let me know what you guys think. thanks alot.

Cam specs will help you choose the correct intake and driving habits/style.Without knowing those I would recommend the RPM.Disadvantages to a single plane usually include less low end nut traded off for high rpm horse..which is the biggest complaint.Than again your cubes may help that out along with the fact you are looking into AFR's.Very happy ith mine.Let us know some specs??

Are those AFR's and single plane gonna go on that 409?
Dude your gonna have some much F'in grunt your gonna wish u went with the single plane....

2 reasons

1. With 195cc heads youll have enourmous velocity..that equals low and mid range power, so with a dual plane itll be A LOT harder to hook it.

2. With 195cc heads youll have enourmous midrange velocity, that equals dead on top even with a bigger cam, infact it would probly be slower after the 1/8..that means youll NEED a single plane to keep it from falling on its face...

you see were in goin with this?....go with some P&P'd of even CNC'd 210's...then you can use a dual plane or single palne and use a "big" cam....
send us some specs

In general, single plane= High RPM performance

Dual plane= Low/to upper HP and Tq........

Of course cam selection is what will determine which will work best!!

Or so I've heard....

I would go 220cc intake runner/ single place intake. or 195cc/rpm airgap.

Traction might be a problem

With the 195's being kinda small for that motor, id definetly want a dual pattern cam..

244/252 duration
.518/.536 lift

maybe even stuff a solid roller in there

i can't get bigger heads because i already ordered them. the tech guy from AFR said that i would be fine with 195cc heads. he said i should have no problem getting in the 12's with those heads, if i can get traction.
