Best heads for the money?
I wanna get some aftermarket heads, the sportsman 2's are looking really good at 860.00 delivered from jegs. vortecs are not really an option, I already have roller rockers and a rpm airgap so I want to re-use those. Should I buy alumminum heads? they would be about 400.00 more and I think 400.00 could be spent better elsewhere if you want to save weight on the frontend. What other options are there?
Thanks, Benjamin

I'd look into some Protopline heads, their stock replacements are really nice and cheap, while their lightnings are really nice. Both flow way more then the best stock heads right out of the box.

Dig a little more, there are way better heads than the sportsman II's, around the same price too.
Heads are where you DO NOT skimp. You want to have the best head you could possibly afford, even if that means no mods for 6 months just to save for 1 set of awesome heads. It'll make you so much happier! I cant even explain the feeling of opening the box when I got my AFRs after saving forever.
I worked all summer, I was still a teenager, living at home and going to college. My parents would tell me to.. "Leave them alone" "put them down" "what is so fascinating about those, your heads arent broken now"
There is nothing like it. Now Im 26 and I sold my truck along with my AFRs a few years ago
. I cant wait (till my wife lets me) call for AFR for new ones!!!!!

i like the 23*trick flows for the money and the way they work only drawback is their selection of valve springs(junk!!!!!!)i get them bare and use comp 987 springs, arp studs, manley guide plates along with teflon seals.

How about the edelbrock rpm's? I like the sportsman 2's because I haven't heard anything bad about them and I could use my nice centerbolt valvecovers. I'm looking for fully assembled heads, bolt on and go deal ;-) thanks again for the input.
