I broke my slave cylinder for my clutch, and i bought a replacmeent, i know where it goes but ive never done a install before, can i get some tips? i have this pin and round thing i dont know what it does.

 

i got the slave cylinder disconnected but i cant get the hose off of the cylinder. does it pull out or does it screw in? or w hat? thanks!

 

If I recall right, there is a small roll pin that needs to be driven out, then the hose just pulls out. Clean the collar where the hose connects to the slave, and look for a hole with a roll pin in it. Also, make sure you use a roll pin punch, not just a regular punch to remove it or you could do some damage.

 

oh ok i know of the pin you speak of. i dont think i have that tool though lol, is thier a more conventional way, i dont car if the slave cylinder breaks anymore then what it already is .

 

Hi Traviz.
There should be a roll pin just below where the hose joins the cylinder. Sometimes difficult to see, since it is flush with the sides and normally covered in dirt. It will be quite tight, but tap it out, The new pin you mention should be the same as the one coming out.
Make sure the hose seal is in place in the new cylinder before the hose goes back in.

ok thanks for the help, i got the pin out, i got the new cylinder all installed now. now my question is, do i now cut those pieces of plastic that held the tip of the cylinder? thanksm

 

I did, and mine works fine. If you don't, they will break anyway the first time you press the pedal.
