Ok...here is the deal...this is what I have right now: https://www.thirdgen.org/rides/index...ew&rideid=9903

I am looking to do a bunch of stuff this winter. I am looking for high 12s (or better) at 106+. The rough combination of parts that I have in my head right now is:
  • AFR heads, 68cc chambers - l was thinking 190s but since those don't exist any longer, its 180s or 195s
  • Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake - I think that this is .85" taller than a regular performer so it should fit
  • Speed Demon 750 - I keep going back and forth on VS vs MS
  • 1.6 Roller Rockers - Crane Energizers perhaps?? or is there something better for me???... also, 3/8" or 7/16"???
  • Comp xe268, xe274, 270h???
  • Fluid Damper??
  • 3.73 Gears w/posi
  • 3" Cutout
  • Suspension + chasis to follow in the summer - LCA, SFC, etc.

I found this on the AFR website "355ci Chevy Dyno Packages Power at Flywheel"...its the third combo about 6 inches down the screen: http://www.airflowresearch.com/dyno/chevy_dyno.htm

I am pretty set on getting AFR heads, I just have tons of little questions...some of which I eluded (sp?) to next to the specific parts. I am looking for opinions on exactly what would work best together.

Forgot to add that I'd like to carry the top half of this engine onto a forged 383 or 406 in a couple of seasons.

Without a doubt - mechanical secondary double pumper. It'll never bog on you with the stall speed you should have.

You need more stall, by the way. Consider a real high stall converter, rather than a re-tuned stock piece. Easier on the tranny, too.

Cam, XE274. Rockers, Comp Pro Magnum. 3/8" is fine.

I don't see subframe connectors. A must-do.

Since 383 is the ultimate plan, go for the 195's.

Might want to consider better hedders. Certainly the y-pipe should be no less than 2-1/2" downpipes and 3" once they come together.

(BTW, it's "Hedman hedders". )

Thanks for the responses.
Should I be getting a fluid damper too?

just remember to give it a gear ratio to match, other than that I couldnt have said it better myself, every apect. This is the same advice I was coming to give.

Why 3/8" and not 7/16"? What are teh disadvantages of using a bigger rocker arm stud?
