High Oil Pressure

I have a 3.1 RS and the oil pressure is kinda ridiculous. I know that its supposed to be higher than most other cars.. or at least that wat it says in the book i have. BUt when im idling the needle basically just lays down at well over 80psi then it goes down to a respectable 40-50 when on the gas if i remember correctly.

I would say that the needle goes as far as possible with out actually laying down

Any ideas?

i heard somewhere to check some kinda oil pressure valve or.. sending switch ... i dont remember. If this is the case... Where is it?

it should be higest when you're in the throttle. more RPM = more oil preasure. i'd put a mechanical gauge on the engine and see what it says.

Its the oil pressure sending unit, located just above the oil filter. It looks like a 35mm film canister, with a plug sticking out of it.

I agree with kevin91Z. Altough he didnt explain it very well. The sending unit tells your needle what to do. It has no effect on oil pressure.
