clutch ?

As I drive down the road I hear a buzzing sound like a berring going out. When I apply the clutch it stops. Is this the clutch, and if so what do you suggest for a replaccement? I am upgrading to a 350 this summer so I was thinking Centerforce dual friction?

That sounds like the throwout bearing is giving up the ghost.

You could in theory just replace the bearing, if the clutch is not terribly old. But you have to do almost all teh work to do that, that it would take to swap the clutch. So it's probably just about clutch time.

I have the CF DF clutch, and really like it. I highly recommend it.

Yep its definitely your throwout bearing. How many miles on your stock clutch? What are you driving habits? Is this going to be for a car that sees a lot of track time..or just a few times a year?

These are things to consider when purchasing a clutch.

I have the Zoom hi-performance clutch. It cost $190 to my door from Summit and has held up exceptionally well. I rarely do launches....maybe thats why my stock clutch lasted 100k.

OK I take it to the autoX course about 6 times a year. Rarely is it out of second gear. I have not been to the drag strip but I do rarely race it. What is your suggestion.

With that said, go with Centerforce I or the Zoom hi-performance.
They are both pretty similar. 30% more holding power than your stock clutch. I've heard the Centerforce I doesn't last too long. I have the Zoom and can tell you it's a good clutch.

If you have the money, go with Mcleod. But it is not necessary. I believe they are over $300 for everything you need for the install.

Do you think the Centerforce II would hold up better? That is kind of what I am leaning toward. This is my first clutch job and really don't want to do it regularly(sp?)

Yes, it probably would. I'd go with Mcleod if your going to be spending that much though. I've heard of some problems with CF II....from F-body owners to 300zx tt owners.

where is a good place to buy the Zoom? I am still looking at options and don't really want to spend big bucks.
