REAL big block GTA info Please !!!
I Found a 396 big block off a Chevelle ss 70 in a trans am GTA 88 5 speed transmission from a 69 corvette with 486whp "dyno verified". The car is mint condition for 5000$can. What should i look for not to get screwd ? and is it possible to lower the suspension with that heavy block ? The car is very high in the front now since it as a pretty beef up suspension and not the original Ws6 package... Please let me know what u guys think about the car and how fast should it go down the 1/4 mile ?

sorry to inform you but there was never a 5 speed manual trans in 1969...infact there was never a 5 spd manual trans in any corvette..the only options were close or wide ratio 4 speeds until the horrible 4+3 speed was added in 1984...the next change occured in 1989 with the ZF 6 speed. my best guess its a t-5 stock or rebuilt...as for the 396 engine...check the engine casting numbers online...because just from the transmisson story it sounds like someone's full of crap.
good luck.

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
And with that much power through a T5, you'll coast through in maybe 40 or 50 seconds, because it'll puke it's guts out before you hit second gear.
i'd run the numbers to make sure what you really have. look over the quality of the work, is it neat or not? the bbc isn't that much heavier than a sbc, 200-300 pounds. i'm not sure i'd trust the dyno sheet, all you have is a dyno sheet and no idea what engine it's really for.
