No.
When the cam dot is at 6 o'clock, and the crank dot is at 12 o'clock, the #6 piston is at TDC firing position
When both are at 12 o'clock, then the #1 is at TDC firing position.
The nice thing is, when setting the lash, you can use this sequence, and when you're done, the #1 piston will already be at TDC waiting for you to drop in the dist.
With #6 @ TDC, set lash on ......
#3 Intake valve
#5 Exhaust valve
#7 Exhaust valve
#2 Exhaust valve
#4 Intake valve
#6 Exhaust valve
#6 Intake valve
#8 Intake valve
With #1 @ TDC, set lash on ....
#1 Exhaust valve
#1 Intake valve
#3 Exhaust valve
#5 Intake valve
#7 Intake valve
#2 Intake valve
#4 Exhaust valve
#8 Exhaust valve

alrigth so right now i am fireing on number 6 so i should leae it and adjust the valves i can and then go 360 on the crank and do the others and i will be fireing at 1 so the dist will go in, damn man good call. thanks alot
all the manuals i've ever seen tell you to install the gears dot to dot which makes it easy to line up but it's not in time dot to dot. you need both dots straight up. the manuals out to put a disclaimer in there telling you dot to dot is 180* out of time.
