Having battery problems with this freezing weather( 0*) and wondering what the best batteries are. I hear the Optima can't be beat, but they're awfully expensive. But if that's what it takes, that's what I'll get. Just wanted some opinions. Thx.

I am running the Optima in mine and have no problems with it. Mine ran for about $109.00 + tax but is worth it.

I myself swear by AC Delco batteries had one in my 89 s-10 blazer for 13 years original battery too, even with the cold minnesota winters. when i bought my Formula in 98 it had a new interstate battery and on the way home i used it for a core and bought me a AC. but i would put AC's in my daily drivers or a car i wasn't moving it inside or to the trunk.
but since i am relocating the battery to the trunk i'll probably get the optima since it's a gel battery, and safer for being insdie the car.

Optima is the best way to go. Plus I think it is lighter than a normal battery.

Alright, back to batteries. I came on here to ask the same thing. I ahve a Pep Boys NoStart battery and after it sits and I try to start it the voltage drops so low taht the fuel pump bearly works and my ecms ram gets erased and it looses its IAC calibration, making for slow cold idles after start up. Works fine warm but once it sits for awhile in the well below freezing temps forget it. What does give good cold starts? I asked my friend and he said that, from experience, that Interstate ones are some of the best and that the Optima ones where only ok given how much they go for.

The Optima has been a great battery for me...I first bought one about 6 years ago and it has been under the hood of whatever vehicle I drive, year round...never a problem.

The technology with gel-cell type batteries is a much better design than lead-acid...but obviously the lead-acid is more common and also down to a science

yeah, mine is an Advance Auto Parts "no start" special. Works fine in warm weather, but if it sits all night in weather below 30*.....no worky. So looks like the concensus is AC Delco or Optima. How many CCA"s is you AC Delco?

Broke down and bought an Optima while Iwas out today. Got it at Costco for $99. We'll see how it goes.

I bought a optima and love it. I had the battery down to 6 volts and it still spun the car over like a champ. At 13 volts, it shows 0 problems.

Jesus.. someone talk about trying to **** out a domestic car stickers add 15 HP!!!!!! woohooo while your at it get one of those cool fast and the furious led tips for your exhaust! oh and of course the name of your car across the windshield.. ohh yeah that'll make 'er a race car for sure.. lol
your car looks great.. dont ruin a nice car like that with fruity *** stickers.. might as well put honda badges in it and drop one of those hardcore v-tec racing 4 cylinders that put out a massive 160hp with a HUGE 60 ftlb's of torque! THEN all you need is "intake" and "exhaust" and your car will run low 5's depending on the number of stickers and leds you have.. if you can get those cool blinking valve caps for your rims then your ready to rock. oh and I almost forgot.. if you could get one of those big errector set looking wings your car would be even faster.. were talkin sub 5's... you'll be showin up funny cars!

If you want something that will always start in the cold then the Optima is the only way to go. It will last 5 times longer than the acid batteries plus they give out more constant voltage. Lead acid is old technology and will go away some day. Plus you don't have the corrosion issue as you do with acid. They are the only thing I run in my cars.

no no.. its 15 per sticker.. for example if you were to spell out "Firebird"across the windshield that would be 15x8

I dont care what anyone says. I think the lack of stuff on the car makes it look very clean and mature.

Back, again, to batteries. So everyone likes those optima ones? Maybe Ill get one and possibly move it to the rear of the car since its sealed.

I wonder what happens to them when they explode? Thats what happened to my last one that was a mayfree. Starter shorted out and the battery blew its top clear off. Drove home on the alternator and when I got there there was acid sizling on everything and the battery terminals were little motlen blobs.
