ZZ4 or L98?

I'm swapping out the 305 for a 350 this summer and want to start to get the parts togethor ASAP. I'm gonna be running nitrous, like 200-300 eventually in smaller bursts (can't think of what its called), so I want a forged crank and a 4-bolt block. It also has to be 86-up compatible. I'm not gonna bore or stroke it for now, so what would be the better route to take?

The ZZ4 is definitely a more stout platform to build your engine. Though, the L98 heads have the pre-1987 intake bolt flange. You'll need a Corvette or aftermarket base, or modify a post-1987 Camaro base.

The ZZ4 has the following components:

Forged crank
Powder metal LT4 connecting rods
Hypereutectic pistons
Vortec style block

Pretty good stuff...

So the zz4 is compatible with my Q-Jet stuff? If I want to run nitrous will I have to replace those hypereutics for forged? Are there decently priced 350 short blocks with all forged internals and 87-up compatible? I don't have a serpentine set-up if that answers any questions about the AC pulley.

hyperreutectic piston.

when you rebuilt a block its cheeper to put forged piston than the stock hyperreutectic...for a 96lt1 it was the case...and the thing about the belt had annything to doo with the conversation.
i saw the picture of ultima8z and i say that sorry

and i dont know if hyperreutectic would resist to lot of nos

Yeah, hyper. pistons probably wouldn't hold up to 300 hp in nitrous add-on. You'd probably be better off building an engine yourself.

Thanks.... I think. Not sure what you mean about binder? I don't mind the non-AC idler pulley that I'm running now. It has no resistance and it's a factory piece- so it's fine with me.

What would be a good block to get? I'm guessing a 350 TPI block from thirdgens, right?

I'd look at getting a four-bolt main block. The third gens are two bolt I believe. ZZ4 blocks are four-bolt mains and have provisions for late model roller cams. The best of both worlds.
