Shaving down heads?

Shaving down heads?

Can 64cc heads be shaved down to 54cc for more compression??

no because the intake will not seal to the heads right it will be alot of gap.

Can stock 84 305 heads be shaved down to 52cc ??

the amount of metal that can be removed depends o nthe amount there is to start with . with that said yes they can be milled, if it's past a certin amount the intake will need to be machined as well to fit the head and prevent a unsealable gap.

yes I've done it. Got exactly that , 52cc's
You can mill down to just before you get to the spark plug boss on 416 castings.

Didn't have to cut the manifold face (cause I enlarged the manifold bolt holes) and the port roofs were raised by porting) but did cut the bottom of the manifold where it mates with the china walls on the front and back of the block. (did it by hand with a 7" grinder and 60 grit disc.)

o so its not just bolt on and go. what kind of compression increase would you get from using 52cc heads?

You can get a set of offset head locating dowels that will re align your ports and bolt holes after milling or block decking.
Competition products has them.

yea I found a set of 305 heads ported 1.94 1.50 valves springs and shaved down to 56cc for $430 sounds pretty good.
