vortecs would be a good choice in my opinion. im thinking though that the cam you want may be too much for the stock springs on the vortecs. gmpp sells a set that are machined for a bigger cam. i think stock vortecs are like 450.00 and the machined ones are like 650.00. i have the world products sportsman II's. they are excellent. larger valves and cc's than the vortecs, but also larger price. like 800 - 850.00

when i built my engine, i had an idea of what cam i wanted to run. to double check myself, i called the cam dealer (Lunati in my case) and asked them their opinion. they helped me out tremendously. they asked me everything about my car and my engine, and what i planned to do with the car. cam selection is one of the most important decisions. i used a smaller lift cam so that i would still have plenty of vacuum for my brakes. i run a .455 lift. as far as the intake, i dont think the dominator will work on the vortecs because of the different bolt pattern.

Your cam should be ok
My friend has a 488 lift in his 305, and he drives it ok everyday
Vortecs are awesome heads for the money!

I wouldnt risk anything bigger than .470 on vortecs. They are great heads for the money. If you go with a little bit smaller like in the .450 range. Also I dont think holley makes an intake that fits vortec heads. The performer RPM intake will work better with them anyway. Good Luck.
