fuel in oil

I have changed my pcv valve and replaced my blown intake manifold gaskets, but there still seems to be fuel getting into my oil. What else should I look at?

Maybe you should change your oil ? If all the gaskets are fine, you might have bad rings.

My dad's 2.8 motor had a bad computer... the bad ECM was locking the injectors open, and getting fuel into the gas. I had a fuel pressure gauge on the motor, and pressure would build up, then bleed off. I thought it was a bad check-valve in the pump itself... glad we brought it to a mechanic for him to change the pump! I would've replaced the pump and the car still wouldn't have ran.

I'm guessing the 88 2.8L is Throttle Body Injected, not sure when they quit putting carbs on Camaros. I know on TPI cars if your injectors or clogged or malfunctioning gas can be squirted, rather than atomized, in the combustion chamber. If the fuel is not ignited it may be getting past your rings and into the crankcase. Pull your sparkplugs, they should be black if what I'm saying is true. As Blade suggested, your rings could be worn. How many miles on this engine? Anybody - could improper installation of the intake gasket be causing this problem?

Too funny, Tom hehe

Most then likely it's the rings associated with a leaky injector...

I got the car from a guy who didn't know much about it. He didn't know if the engine was original or replaced. Since my odomiter dosen't go up to 100,000 miles I can't be sure. But i'd guess it's 166,000 miles.

166,000 miles?!?!?! consider yourself lucky, most 2.8's didn't make it past 100,000 miles.
are you sure it is fuel getting into your oil? does the oil smell strongly of fuel? does it run good? sounds like bad rings or it is running too rich.

It dosen't seem to be running too rich. The oil smells strongly of fuel. The car runs well.

My friends 90 Firebird 2.8L went 260,000 miles before the engine mount broke and his oil pan ripped open, killing the engine. It probably would have gone 350,000 if the pan would have stayed in tact.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. No there's no blow back. The oil pressure seems to be a little low. It sits right at the line before the red.

D'oh! Good catch, Blade. I guess I didn't have enough coffee that day, eh?

87KevRoc, GM's last year for a carb'd f-body 2.8 was '84, they moved to Multiport injection in '85.

MrF-Body, I'm at 210,000 miles on my original 2.8, and still going! The only thing I've done that's semi-internal was the timing chain, at around 180k miles.
