My spedometer grinds and flips out every so often..

Every once in a while it makes this whiny grinding noise and flips out. Whats that mean? Do I need a new one.. or is it something fixable?

from what i have heard from hanging around the boards here your speedo cable may need adjustment/lube

feel free to correct me if im wrong anyone

its just a guess on my part

Mine does that too on cold mornings. It will buzz and flip to around 80-85. Just need to replace the speedo cable ($9 Autozone). I need to stop being lazy and get that done before i get pulled over.
