OK, I need some help. I just changed my plugs and wires and the car is running horribly. Take a look at this diagram of the engine and distributor and tell me if it's wrong. I don't know if I've got the firing order right, but what really matters is that everything matches up by the numbers.

I've got to drive this thing to work tomorrow, so get back to me ASAP...thanx

if it ran better before you worked on it then rechack all you did. plug gaps, wire condition, and correct order. the firing order for sbc is 18436572

Transmission: sure does
I don't see a picture.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 clockwise.

I always get 5 and 7 mixed up.

Sorry about the pic...I fixed it. I appreciate the firing order sequence and that it goes clockwise on the distributor, but that doesn't help much without knowing what number corresponds to what cylinder on the engine and where you start counting clockwise from on the distributor. I'm just a novice on this stuff...still learnin'. Check out the graphic...is it correct?

ede, I think I do have odd on the left and even on the right...do you mean the other way around?. Don't worry about that, though. What I'm concerned about is if, for example, #2 and #2 match up. Any thoughts?

Front left is #1, odd #s are on the left, #2 is front right.

On the distributor cap, the one that is just to the left (driver's side) of straight ahead is #1; they go clockwise frome there. Order is 18436572 like it says on the intake.

Looks to me like you have the ones labelled "8" and "4" in your diagram exchanged. Those are actually 3 & 7.

IT'S RUNNING GREAT NOW!!! I had #3 and #7 crossed up...thanx for the help. It runs better than ever with Moroso Blue Max ignition wires and SplitFire plugs. Here's the correct diagram in case it will help anyone else:

Thanks again.
