need some quick motor help
silly question, but important, none the less. I have an 82 t/a... i pulled all the accessories off of my 305, to put them on the 350 i'm putting in. I can't figure out how to mount the damn Power steering pump. it's a carb 305, if that makes a difference, and all the other acc's bolt on just fine. I just need to find out where the hell the power steering pump bolts to. any pictures would be GREAT. also, the pump has a 2-groove pulley if that's important to know. Thanks in advance for all your help guys!

my 350 has a bracket that mounts to the head and an arm that mounts to the first header bolt on the drivers side. my pump has a bolt in the back that the bracket mounts to.

thanks for the help, but I was wondering ehre the holes on the left side of the pump (as you're facing it) go. they line up to some of the holes on the front of the motor, i just dunno where. any thoughts? preferably pictures? (it may be important to mention that my motr is a carb 350 with a carb 305 acc setup.)

It doesn't matter that it's a 350, as long as the heads have the accessorey bolt holes in them. All SBCs are the same in this regard.
I have some pics at home showing the bracket assembly onto the engine. I'll post them later.

LOL.
I don't have pictures...but I once took my power steering pump off without knowing that there were 2 bolts in that area. I no longer have that part of the bracket on my power steering pump now. One of the bolts is used for the ground from the battery. I left the other bolt out. No problems running is this way so far.
It's the only two bolt holes in the area, one on top of the other. East of the timing cover, and southwest of the freeze plug.

****... so I put it on wrong? i put that plate you speak of on the water pump, northwest of the timing cover. that might explain why i can't figure out how to mount it up. thanks. anybody with pics of this is welcome to post anyway though.

Pics of a block...350
My power steering goes on the driver side on the bottom right (facing engine). Alternator on top right, smoag pump was on bottom left, and air conditioner compressor is on top left. (facing engine)

one last question... how big was that spacer you used, and how did you make it?

Couldn't tell you how big it was.... it came with the headers, but was the wrong length (too long); I set the header and manifold next to each other, and cut the spacer to be the difference in thickness between the manifold and the header flange. Then I used the stock hardware; the stud, all the washers, etc.
