I gotta chime in and agree with 89Z here.. I spent days trying to figure out why my V6 wouldn't fire after it had sat for a month while we did the turbo.. I had tried to start it, and absolutely nothing was going on.. and then I noticed the giant vac leak from the missing EGR tube. By this time the plugs had oil and gas fouled to all hell. Took 'em all out and cleaned them very nicely, even took a points file to the firing area and made sure it was totally clean. To make a long story short, it never did run until they were replaced. Started right up with new plugs. I felt like an idiot.

Gah, that reminds me of my biggest
of a car problem. My first vehicle was a little 86 Izuzu PUP (I miss that thing!) and it ran like a bloody champ. Had a lil' 1.9L 4 banger and a 5 speed. One day it started sputtering REALLY bad. Only would do it during take off and at low RPM's though. Could not figure out for the LIFE of me what was wrong with it. Finally gave up and took it to, of all places, a DEALERSHIP to have them take a look at it. They called me up later that day and said "We decided not to charge you for the new spark plug..."
