wet engine won't start or stops

I have an 83 Z28 and in the past few years when the engine gets wet it won't start. If even moisture gets into the engine after a rain it will start, but let me sit a few miles down the road. We have replaced the distributor cap, but this has not helped. After the car dries out it's fine again. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks,

Huh, if the engine gets wet it wont start, but if water gets into the engine it will? Im confused.

And how is water getting into the engine? Dont you have a hood?

I do have a hood on, but if we wash down the engine it won't start for the rest of the day or if it's raining just the moisture can cause it to shut down.

i would suggest removing the cap and module if its a module on cap design and cleaning all contacts and reassemble with liberal amounts of dielectric greese on all contacts including the wires on the cap and maybe even a little on the end of each plug before reattaching the plugs.. should solve your moisture problem..
