My dad has a 1991 Z28 with a 350 TPI with 55,000 miles on it.

Friday morning he got in it and started it up, it started fine and ran for about 15-20 seconds and started running rough and then went dead. Everytime after that it would start and run for acouple of seconds then die again. It finally got to the point it wouldnt start at all. You can here the fuel pump running so we know that works. Its like something is shutting the injectors off.

We had it towed to the chevy dealer and they got in it this morning and it started and ran fine until it warmed up then it started running rough and died. And now it wont start at all for them. They have no clue whats wrong with it either. The fuel pump is fine they say and its not throwing any codes to read. They are beginning to think its the computer thats acting up.

Has anybody ran into this before and what could be wrong so we can help the dealer out and get it out of there faster before they run up one hell of a bill.

You need to get your car out of a shop that combined cant figure why a car wont start, If your car wont start for them while It's right
there they are idiots, I would have been givin my last cheak if I was that dumb, you said dealer

Im not saying all cars and problems are easy, but I was a GM tech for ten years, If I couldent tell you why a GM wouldent start in 1/2 hr I wouldent have a job

An engine needs four things to run, Air/Fuel/compression/spark

Plugged fuel filter?

 

The fuel pump is working, its got a brand new fuel filter and none of the air passages are clogged. we checked all them here.

Its wierd, Like the computer is shutting off the injectors

 

Well we got a call from the Dealer and they said the Computer went bad and just wont communicate anymore. They are putting a new one in it as we speak.

 

I'm in similar problem. I think the ECM is bad.

When engine is hot, the ECM cut sparks & injectors = no more start until engine is cold again.

How is the car with the new ECM?. Did you solve the bad condition with this ECM?.

I know this is old but i had that issue and atleast part of my issue was an injector shortimg out when it would get hot

 

hpmustangs i was wondering the same thing. The stock injectors are very prone to coil failure....more often than not...it happens when they are hot. See if you can put an ohm meter on them when they are cold and hot.
