Head Gasket

Wanting to use a 1094 head gasket on shaved heads and machined block, but I wondered if you use it as is or some compound first? 5.7

I sprayed them with aluminum paint because I was using a gasket-scraped-only block surface.

If you have the surfaces machined to their surface finish recommendations, no need for additional chemicals.

What do you mean by aluminum paint? Do you have any other suggestions for a scraped surface?

I mean a real live spray can of aluminum colored paint. It actually has particles of aluminum in it which are soft and fill in gaps.

I used spray Coppercoat on the 396 steel shims. Both engines seem to be doing fine.

I also used permatex coppercoat on my 1094s. My heads are new aluminum but my block was just scraped clean. I've had no problems so far.

I saw the copper Permatex spray and asked clerk, he said he did not know. Thanks!
