air pump

i have to put in a new air pump soon and i heard that those torx bolts are involved. can anyone tell me if what i herd is true and if so if anyone would know the size of the socket needed.

no idea. you need a new smog pump? you can have the one out of my 82 t/a... i'm about to throw it in the trash. it's probably a 9/16's socket, though. i don't think torx bits were on very many things back then.

I cannot remember the size off hand but you need a torx bit. They are usualy siezed into that bracket and only come out with some gridning. You can try to grind a slot into the head so that you can use a screw driver or grind around the bracket and get it out. I find it easier to take out the whole acessory bracket and remove it with a pair of vice grips. It is much easier that way. This is for a serpentine set-up and may be different with a v-belt style.

If by tools you mean 8 different vice grips, a grinder, and about 4 bits.... I had to go midevil on mine.

lol, as long as you have a T-45 torx bit it should be cake. If not, then I guess you'll have to go midevil, lol.

what engines and years use torx bolts? mine are just standard bolts on a 90 3.1
