manual steering box
manual steering box
how hard is it to switch to manual steering. i've herd all you need is a S10 manual box and it bolts in and thats it. have any of you guys switched to manula steering.

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
It's a direct bolt on. You can use the S10 pitman arm but the angle is a little different. I installed the camaro's pitman arm on my manual box.

Altitude corrected rear wheel HP based on power to weight ratio: 476.5
Best 60 foot: 1.662
Racing at 3500 feet elevation but most race days it's over 5000 feet density altitude!

Use an '85-90 s10 or some s15's box and install it with the camaro pitman arm. I actually had to hammer the frame rail slightly to get mine to fit.

<font face="arial" size="2" color="blue">I used the S10 box as well...had to shave off just a touch of the metal for it to sit against the frame right. Love it, glad I did it.

a new rebuilt one is around 130 from autozone here, plus core charge, i bought mine from a friend for 50 dollars.

I know where I can pick up a second one at a local junk yard. Maybe I should pick it up and make a few bucks selling it to someone here.

How hard is it to turn the wheel at a stop, like when trying to parallel park? Just wondering.

my car only goes in a straight line so turning and parking aren't a problem. i ithnk for a daily driver i'd stick with power
