Freakin oil filler cap!!! Lost another one!!

I have aftermarket chrome valve covers, and they have just a push-in type oil filler cap. How the heck can i keep it on?! ive lost 2 now; I guess they fall out when I hit a bump or something. I swear im gonna glue it in...

Thats shouldn't be a problem if you are using a good grommet. Otherwise ??

It doesnt have a grommet. there is just a hole in the valve cover, and the oil filler cap has a rubber piece on the bottom that pressses into the hole. You know the $4.00 chrome Mr Gasket oild filler cap that autozone sells? its that one.

There's nothing wrong with your PVC system (excessive pressure under valve covers), is there? I have an oil fill cap by Spectre that's been hanging in there pretty strongly.. got it from Summit Racing for $7.

I have the same type Ward. Though mine doesnt come off, I am now beginning to suspect it is causing the oil all over my intake. I think it may be splashing up...

Check your PCV system, as was suggested. Also, realize that USUALLY only one of the valve cover holes has a baffle under it to prevent direct oil splash upon whatever is in the hole. w/o the baffle, funny things can happen, and can be exacerbated by an improperly performing PCV system.

FYI, you have to use a baffled hole for the PCV valve itself, for obvious reasons.

I lost four before I made a strap that goes from the two valve cover bolts over the cap. Do you have the GMPP valve covers? I do. I now have a GM cap, but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

BTW, there is nothing wrong with my PCV system. Lots of vacuum at the valve.
