is it shifting at a differnt rpm? its possible your now shifting out of its powerband (too late or too early).. what did it shift at before and now? what type of induction are you running?
he has exhaust and K&N...no bs hes my best friend. but it shifts higher now i didnt really pay attention i just did it today. i like it alot more because before i got loose shifts. they were soft and didnt seem to hit well. its like a shift kit was installed. alot nice. so whats the other options. the cars a L98 700R4(obviously). it has higher mileage. 170000 km..not sure what that is in MIles

aight. i pushed in the metal d shaped thing and brought the slack of the cable tight to the mounting tab. i let go of the metal d and then pushed the throttle to WOT, and released it. it shifts good and i was happy but something must not be right if all the sudden sunfures are beaten me.

Are you sure he didn't do anything to his car? If you always smoke him, then he comes back and smokes you, thats a huge difference. You should have been able to tell something was wrong just by flooring it. You'd have to lose alot of hp to lose to him.
If you go WOT and it pulls like it did before, I think your ok. The way you did your cable seems to be right, but I believe it should click

Of course it may just be that the adjustment moved your shift points up beyond your engine's optimum RPM range....ideal shift points for that engine should be at around 4600 out of 1st and around 4300-4400 out of 2nd & 3rd.... if it stays in low gear to a higher RPM than that, then it's reaching a point where the engine isn't producing as much power, so the RPMs cease to climb and instead just kind of hang there for a while without the car accelerating, so the car will go slower.
You might want to try gently pushing in the cable housing, the reverse of what you did to adjust it, until it clicks; that should lower the shift points slightly. See if that helps it go faster. Then try pushing it in one more click. In other words, carefully adjust it one click at a time, for best results.
But in no case should a Sunfire be able to beat your car, or even come anywhere close, unless it's had ALOT of work done to it. Even if your car was a 305 TBI. With your L98, you should be at least a second and a half faster than that car, maybe more like 2 seconds. Something doesn't pass the smell test.
170,000 km is about 110,000 miles. Not really a whole lot.

a trusted tranny builder in my area told me to adjust the TV cable according to spec and when I race to push it IN one notch. This is will increase line presure slightly and allow the tranny to hold a gear longer.

The way my trans-go kit video said do adjust the cable is like this.
Have someone hold your gas pedal to the floor
Push the D thing
Then slide the sleeve as far back as you can
and thats it. They called it MAX TV or something on the video.

That's the correct factory procedure for adjusting it.
But, like so many other things, you can "tune" it a little bit. Not much, but a little. Too much variation from factory spec will run the risk of burning up the trans. But, over a narrow range, you can vary the adjustment somewhat, to get the best results for your specific vehicle and driving needs and all that.

If I race it I manually shift it anyways. Supposedly the tranny I have has a trans-go shift kit but to be honest I have no idea.
