Head Job

I dont know if this is a stupid question or not, but i need to ask it cause its bothering me. When i put my heads back on, i was told to used a felpro blue gasket, with a thin layer of gasket sealer. I did this, but i didnt use gasket sealer, i accidently used adhesive sealent, will this make a difference?

I generally do not use any type of sealant on the heads. If the block and heads are both in good order, it will seal fine.

Also, the last Felpro head gasket set i used, it said do not use any sealant.

It's hard to say right now if it'll cause a problem or not. When it comes to gaskets, always follow the manufactures instruction since they know what's compatible with their materials.

well my chiltons manual said if using a metal gasket put a thin layer of sealant on, but i dont even know what the felpro blue gaskets are, so i said well it cant hurt. I asked my mechanic and he said todays gaskets are so good that you dont even need gasket sealer, and not to worry.

The dreaded Chilton manual strikes again.
The only purpose of Chilton and Haynes is emergency out house paper.
Either on the box or packed inside the box of gaskets are manufacturers instructions as to what sealants ( if any) to use.

do you think it will be ok, even if the gasket said not to use any sealant?

I'd go with what the gasket manufacturer says to do, over what a manual says to do.
