roller 305 + zz4 cam+4bbl carb

thats the plan so far
i need help finding the best stock heads that can support that cam
i would prefer to mill heads (from a 350)and use larger springs

but, can i get away with using heads from a 92 305 (193) with just larger springs?

i will be using a performer intake.

car will not be computer controlled

oh and my other choice is a lt1 cam.

Recommendations people.

Don't bother with 193 heads. They are dung.

Don't waste a bunch of time and money futzing around with milling 350 ones and all the problmes it creates.

Use 081s.

Use the ZZ4 intake, much much better than the Performer.

I agree, you do not want 350 heads. That is unless you were going with aftermarket heads.

When I was planning out my mods, it was being planned around a ZZ4 cam (I had a roller shortblock). Since this was my daily driver, I wanted to minimize down-time, so I went with World heads rather than try to do anything with the LG4 heads.

I would suggest that you get some 416 or 601 heads and work them over. Since you're going carb, intake manifold selection will be better with those heads. If you really want center-bolt valve covers, then go with the 081's or Worlds (actually, the Worlds will allow you to use the ZZ4 intake and center-bolt covers).

You can use the older style bolt pattern manifolds like the ZZ4 on the later style heads like the 081's, but it's just one less thing to worry about.

I'd highly recommend at least a basic porting job on whatever heads you use (including Worlds), 1.94" intake valve, and good valve springs that can handle the ZZ4 cam lift.

FWIW, I ended up with my current package because as I was preparing it for assembly I discovered my roller block was cracked. So, I used my existing non-roller block and the Crane Compucam.
