Need help identifying part - car is down until I get it!

Having coolant leaking problems. I think I localized it to a piece that I then broke (it was weak). The piece is screw in 'nipple' fitting in the passenger side end tank of the radiator. The heater return hose mounts onto it. This is an 86 TPI T/A. The dealer can't find a picture of the part. I sincerely hope it's factory and not some part of an aftermarket radiator. Anyone confirm for me? Anyone get a part number?

Take the fitting to a local radiator shop. They'll have it.

The factory radiator has plastic end tanks, so yours has been replaced with something else if that fitting screws in. Take the fitting to a decent parts store, or a radiator shop as suggested above.

Thanks for the help, guys. I actually called the GM parts warehouse and had them pull radiators and figured that this must be an aftermarket one. I plan to attempt to locate a brass fitting to use there.

The aftermarket radiators sometimes use a plastic nipple..hehheh...I said nipple..huhuh..oh, where was I..

anyway, the plastic nipple screws into the tank and has a rubber gasket.

Any radiator shop should be able to fix you up.

(huhhuh, I said nipple, screw, and rubber all in the same thread....hehehh...I'm a dork.. )

EB,

I can say "sphincter", too, but I'll bet you can't name the place on an airplane that a pilot sits (no, not the left seat), or the name of the little twist-open drain fittings on the radiator and sides of the block, or the annoying little hard-shelled scavenging insect that can survive almost anything.

Try it...
