What type of heads?

I bought a 350 tbi or carb (can't remember which one) from a 91 van to put in my camaro. Does anyone know what kind of heads came with this engine?

are you asking which heads you have on the engine? or which heads would have came on that engine? if you have the heads on the engine or with it then pull a valve cover off and read the casting numbers in there then post them so we can decode what they are

It will almost certainly be a TBI motor, with sworl-port heads.

But you have it sitting in front of you, look at the casting numbers, they tell all.

Once you get the casting number, take them to www.Mortec.com and look them up. Casting number 14102193 is the 350 TBI "swirl port" design.

The motors sitting at the junkyard right now. But I'll tell you the number when I go pick it up. And what is "Swirl port"?

A swirl port is a casting design used by chevy to more or less swirl the incoming air charge. Its great for fuel economy and looow end torque. Anything above 3000 or so RPM and its nothing more than a flow impediment.

They arent a BAD head....if your a 4x4 guy. For anything resembling performance on the street, they should be avoided. I hear they make good boat anchors. I think im gonna try that with my practice 187 head.

Sounds like there junk then. I'll just keep my original plan of replacing them with l98 heads. I'll practice porting on them if they are swirl ports.
