Timing Problem

I have an 87 Camaro with a 305 and 4brl carb. I can't seem to find any label that states the timing, and every book I can find says to check the label. Does anyone know what the timing adjustment is for that?

Probably a base time of 6-8 degrees before TDC should work. If you havnt already looked there, the labels are on the underside of the hood.

i'm thinking a 305 carbed engine was 0 but i might be wrong. setting it to 6 or so wouldn't be bad, actualyl maybe even better than 0

The sticker on my radiator shroud says 6*@700rpm. That is for a '82 LG4.(305 4bbl)

thanks, now the only problem is that the repair book I have said something about separating a wire before doing that and connecting it after. I have no idea where it is. The book had a picture, but it didn't seem to help.

Timing Problem

My Chiltons shows 6 degrees BTDC for both VIN H & F on the 87 305. Idle for VIN H is 700 RPM if you have the manual trans & 500 for the auto, VIN F is 500 RPM for either. The wire they are speaking of is a brown with white stripe hanging out of the harness back by the blower motor on the passenger side. Just unplug the connector while setting the timing & reconnect it when finished. It also states that for all feedback carb systems to disconnect the 4 wire connector at the distributor.

Good Luck,
Simpleman
