my damn car won't start

Hey all-

My damn Z wont start. I have replaced the ignition coil, the cap, the rotor, and now the ignition module. What else is left? It's getting all kinds of gas, all kinds of spark, and it doesnt start. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Thanks

Is it actually cranking, or just doing nothing? Just wanting to clarify....

Most likely the spark plugs are wet. replace them with new ones see if that works. Cause it sounds like you flooded it

I dont think its flooded, cause the plugs arent really wet or anything. its been sitting for a couple days, so i dont think there would be a problem with flooding.

On my 86 IROC (carbed) the needle and seat was sticking on the Q-jet and causing the carb to dump in way too much fuel...thus fouling out the plugs ASAP and the excess was burning thru the cat and glowing red..

I got a rebuilt Q-jet and it runs like a champ

If you're SURE you have fuel and you're SURE you have spark, it can only be timing. Check your distrib, might be loose. It's happened to me before

Also, check your plugs. If they're soaking wet you're flooding. If they're really oily you'll have a hard time starting as well.

Do you get a cough or any attempt to start?

Is this a carb car or TPI?

I checked the timing and its right on. It doesnt really seem like the plugs are too oily, or like the engine is flooding. It is a carb engine. Still trying to figure out whats going on. Thanks

I'm tellin ya - carb !

Check the archives for my posts about 3-4 months ago about my LG4 86 IROC...

I tried EVERYTHING, like you have - it was carb...didn't make logical sense, but that's was it..

Look into it...

My AIM is "TransAm87WS6", or you can e-mail me if you want more info...
