HELP!!!!!!!!!! Timing Cover
LOL this might sound dumb but i pulled my timing cover off to change the cam and now i cant get it back on!!!!!!!!! any tips or something special i need to do? the bottom wont get over the oil pan. anything would help cause now im stuck thanks
That is normal. First, read your repair manual. To over come any troubble, I cut the corners off of my timming cover. The lip on the timming chain cover that goes over the oil pan gasket, cut a straight linedown from the corner of the lip and smoth it out so it does not cut into the gasket. Now, losen the oil pan nuts almost completley out, but not all of the way. At this point, you can wedge teh timming cover back over teh lip of the oil pan gasket. it's a beotch, but with tiime and patients, you can do it. good luck!

we just always take out the first 3 bolts on the oilpan and loosen the rest up pretty well then pry the oil pan down enough to put the timing cover in and put some sealer onthe pan gasket where it pulled away and rebolt every thing back up .......and ive seen lots of people cut the timing cover like Raiden said and that works really good too just do as he said and make sure you dont cut that front gasket at all so there you have two different ideas ......

Agreed with the two above posts. I cut the lip off of my timing cover and just made sure to put a healthy dose of sealer and let it dry No leaks. The best way is to lower the pan.

I always cut the cover and the gasket a little bit. Then just to ensure its sealed good I'll take some gasket maker and put a bead over where the oil pan and timing cover meet. Never had a single leak.
